Advice to my younger self.

Have you ever witnessed a moment where you realise you are no longer the person you were a year back or 5 years back or 15yrs?

I had that moment yesterday and I have been pondering my thoughts into this since then. What will I do if I encounter myself from eons ago? Do I have anything to say to her? Any advices to give? I realised I have way too many advices😂

Thing is I have been a matured kid since I remember, so I have been a good decent kid all the while. That means boring childhood. Sorry, no childhood. Because mature kids are not really kids. They are adults trapped in the bodies of kids.

So if I could go back in time I would definitely like to say these things to myself.

  1. YOU’RE A KID, STOP BEHAVING LIKE A ADULT.
  2. Read books.
  3. Its okay to be stupid.
  4. Don’t be so good that people use you like a tissue.
  5. Stand up for yourself like you do for others.
  6. Stop spending all your money on friends(so called friends) and save something for yourself too.
  7. Believe in yourself.
  8. Love yourself.
  9. Take your creative side seriously.
  10. Don’t cry so much, stop being an emotional fool.
  11. Smile, laugh, stop being so serious about life. Have fun.
  12. Dance more, I know you love dancing.
  13. Everyone is going to hurt you someday and its okay. Don’t stop loving just because someone broke your heart, but if people question your self worth, kick them outta your life.

Imagine the difference these things would have made. Alas!

Book Tag – The Reading Habits Book Tag

I was tagged by Mark Jayson Balas of bongbongbooks for this book tag long back but couldn’t finish this task . Better late than never, I guess. So lets begin with questions.

1. Do you have a certain place at home for reading?

Yes, my Bedroom where my study table is. I mostly read in my bedroom. Sometimes I read just before sleeping ,so my bed is second spot where I read in my bedroom.

2. Bookmark or random piece of paper?

Bookmarks. mostly! I do own few bookmarks, the metal ones and paper ones too. I do carry a bookmark whenever i am carrying a book.

3. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/ a certain amount of pages?

I like to stop when a chapter finishes rather than on random pages. This also works for short stories well, so I am very particular about it. It’s easier to remember where you last stopped in the story. In rare occasions when I stop reading in between chapters , I start with re- reading that chapter.

4. Do you eat or drink while reading?

Sometimes. I am one of those people who are super clean while eating, so I am not worried about my books getting dirtier.

once my friend borrowed a book and returned it with yellow food stains. I am yet to forgive her for that.

5. Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?

Music is good company but tv is distraction.

6. One book at a time or several at once?

There was a time when I couldn’t read more than one at a time, but presently, I am reading 4.

7. Reading at home or everywhere?

I read when at home, office and while travelling. I do carry a book along most of the times, unless I am going out with friends and family.

8. Reading out loud or silently in your head?

Silently of course.

9. Do you read ahead or even skip pages?

I do skip pages if the book is boring or the plot is getting typical.

10. Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

Why is this even a question?

Preserving it like a new copy all the way! As I mentioned earlier, I am a super clean person, I wrap books in plastic after I am done reading so they remain brand new always.

11. Do you write in your books?

I don’t write, but yes if I find a beautiful quote or if a line strucks me I highlight it.

12. Who do you tag?

I hardly have blogger friends,so I am gonna tag few friends who also blog.

Here’s the list of wonderful people I tag.

Pls, do tag me once you are done answering the questions, i’d love to read them.

Tales of 2015

Dear 2015,

I’ll always be indebted to you. Thankyou for happening to me. So many things changed in 2015,so many fond memories. I learnt so many things about myself and in general too.

In 2015 I took my first all solo trip to jaipur. A trip truly about Firsts.

Hawa mahal jaipur

In 2014 I read only 20 books. In 2015 the number increased to 42.5(though I wanted to read 50).

image

2015 has been good when it comes to Reviews and books discussions.

image

2015 has been good for family trips too. Visited mahabaleshwar with parents and Vishakapatnam with cousins.

2015 has been more about knowing myself a Lil better.

The icing on the cake being the scriptwriting classes. I wanted to take up this course for 2-3yrs now, but things never worked out. But finally in 2015 it happened.

I wrote my first script treatment in 2015.

I also started as an translator by translating dialogues from English to Hindi for a upcoming short.

All in all one wonderful year.

In 2016 I’ll definitely want to go ahead and finish things I have started. I want to raise the bar and challenge myself to do things I have never expected. I also want to read more books (may be 100) and review all of them.

More than anything else, I want to write in 2016. I want to start writing my next script and a novel (fingers crossed).
I want to work, I want to earn money starting 2016.

Cheers to 2016.

Busy Me!

Last few weeks I have been very busy with festivals, my Scriptwriting classes, writing my first script, working on some other stories, and what not.  Phew!!

My blog suffered because of that. May be I knew this, that’s why I stopped taking up book review requests two months back. (once a planner, always a planner).

Even December seems busy. The holiday season is here and so is wedding season . I am hoping to post a few blog post(if I find time in between my travel) that I have in my mind, also I want make few changes on the blog.

I really really hope I get time to read.

*Fingers crossed *

Simple yet beautiful lyrics.

Few days back I was thinking about lyrics as in general, and I remembered a stanza of the song Pyaar Kar from the movie Dil Toh Pagal Hai. Dil Toh Pagal Hai had a superb album, all songs are not just melodious but meaningful too. What I mean to say is lyrics are very interesting.

Full Lyrics

Hey hey oh ho ho ho ho
Hmmm hmmm la la la la la
Chaand ne kucch kaha raat ne kuchh suna
Chaand ne kucch kaha raat ne kuchh suna
Tu bhi sun bekhabar pyaar kar
Oh ho ho pyaar kar
Aayi hai chaandni mujhse kehne yehi
Aayi hai chaandni mujhse kehne yehi
Meri gali mere ghar pyaar kar
Oh ho ho pyaar kar

Chaand ne kucch kaha raat ne kuchh suna
Tu bhi sun bekhabar pyaar kar
Oh ho ho pyaar kar
la la la la la la la

Kya kahoon kya pata baat kya ho gayi
Dillagi ye mere saath kya ho gayi hai
Ek ishaara hai ye
Dil pukaara hai ye
Ek ishaara hai ye
Dil pukaara hai ye
Isse chura na nazar pyaar kar
Oh ho ho pyaar kar

Chaand ne kucch kaha raat ne kuchh suna
Tu bhi sun bekhabar pyaar kar
Oh ho ho pyaar kar
Hey hey ah ha ha ha aa

Hai kaun kya khabar koi to hai magar
Sapnon mein hai kahin aata nahin nazar
Main yahaan vo vahaan
Aa rahi phir yahaan
Main yahaan vo vahaan
Aa rahi phir yahaan
Aawaaz ksiki magar pyaar kar
Oh ho ho pyaar kar

Chaand ne kucch kaha raat ne kuchh suna
Tu bhi sun bekhabar pyaar kar
Oh ho ho pyaar kar
la la la la la la la

Jispe hum mar mite usko pata bhi nahin
Oh ho jispe hum mar mite usko pata bhi nahin
Kya gila hum karein vo bewafa bhi nahin
Humne jo sun liya usne kaha bhi nahin
Kehde zara soch kar pyaar kar
Oh ho ho pyaar kar
Hey hey ah ha ha ha aa
la la la la la la la

Chaand ne kucch kaha raat ne kuchh suna
Tu bhi sun bekhabar pyaar kar
Oh ho ho pyaar kar
Aayi hai chaandni mujhse kehne yehi
Aayi hai chaandni mujhse kehne yehi
Meri gali mere ghar pyaar kar
Oh ho ho pyaar kar
Hey hey la la la la la
Ho ho hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm

Pyaar kar
Ho ho ho pyaar kar
Pyaar kar
Ho ho ho pyaar kar

The particular stanza I was thinking about is

Jispe hum mar mite usko pata bhi nahin
Oh ho jispe hum mar mite usko pata bhi nahin
Kya gila hum karein vo bewafa bhi nahin
Humne jo sun liya usne kaha bhi nahin

What beautiful and simple way to express one sided love . Don’t you think so?

Anand Bakshi saab salute to you.

Random Musings.

Nahi hote jab tum paas,
ata nahi mujhe chaen..
hote ho jab paas,
dhadkane meri ho jati hai tezz…

Zindagi ne hai aisa rukh moda,
pehle tumpe aya dil,
fir tumne iss dil ko toda..

Lagti hai ab yeh zindagi bhi bekaar,
mil na sake tujhse,
na hi kar paye apne pyaar ka izhaar..

Nahi shiqwa ke hum tumse mil nahi paye…
zindagi ke iss mod pe na tumse takraye..
zindagi nahi, na sahi par tumhari khushbu hamare sang chali..

Uss shaam ki kya baat karun main aaj…
woh shaam hai aur aaj ki hai raat…
aaj bhi kar rahe hai hum tumhara intezaar…

Tujhse mile ho gaya ab toh ek arsa..
aaja mere khwabon mein,
kar de mujhe Fanaa.

Itni si hai aarzu,
poori karde oh khuda,
milva de usse,
karva de deedar..

Bheeghi raatein kaala aasmaan…
sumsan si woh gali,
dur khada tumhara makan..
yeh chaand na hota toh kaise karte hum tumhara deedar..

Nahi chahiye hamdardi tumhari..
Pyar kiya hai tumse..
ehsaan na jatao humpe…
dil diya hai tumhe,
ki koi qurbani nahi…

Teri Meharbaniyaan.

Meharban hue woh humpe iss tarah,
ke lehron se aake takrayi kashti jiss tarah.

Na din hai naa raat hai,
woh meharbaan hue humpe,
kya baat hai.

Gustakhiya karne ko dil chahta hai,
ke aaj teri baahon mein marne ko jee chahta hai.

Naadaan hai dil, nahi jaanta woh ke, ishq ki raaho mein katl e aam hote hain.

Palkhein jhukaye unka intezaar karte hai,
Sapno mein ho mulakat,
yahi sochkar subah se shaam karte hai..
