Hello my lovely blog family. I know I have not taken much care of my blog for last couple of years, but I am trying to do better now.

With that intention in mind I wanted to share with you all on what to expect from this blog here after. I am making some major changes here. I am going to diversify with respect to content. Till now I have been only posting about books, book reviews and all things books, but now I am also going to include talking about Photography, Cameras, Lenses, Reviews for photography gear, etc, with addition of some fun posts on skincare, movies, shows, and travel stories. Oh, I have so many travel stories and photography hacks to share with you all.

Book Review 25 travel stories in 500 pictures by Bhumika Mehta.

25 travel stories in 500 pictures is a book by a traveller written in Blog post style writing.

The countries covered in this book are Taiwan, India, Thailand, Georgia, Turkey, Philippines, Vietnam, Jamaica, Singapore, Mexico, Indonesia, and Canada.

As the writer has chosen so many countries to showcase in one book they couldn’t showcase whole of history and culture of any said country. Book has very little information about any country.

Coming to photos, the same Blogger/magazine style continues here. Many photos are personal memories of the writer. A fraction of them are not true to horizon. Majority of them lack individuality.

Personally, I would have appreciated a country wise photo essay/travel story where I would be educated about the history, traditions, and culture of that particular country instead of glimpse of multi countries this book portrays.

Book Review – How to write a story effectively by samarpita Mukherjee Sharma.

We all have a story inside of us, we all want to pen it out in a book. But, we all do not possess the tools required to be a good writer. Luckily for some of us, we can learn them and fulfill our dreams of becoming an Author. To do so this book comes really handy.

How to write a story effectively is your guide in your writing journey. The Author is a Professional Editor with an experience that spans more than a decade, a proof reader, a ghost writer, a author, social media influencer, to name a few feathers in her Creative Hat.

If you are a first time writer, you are probably confused, under confident, and more likely lost. What I love about this book is that the Author has included plenty of examples as well as pointers on mistakes to avoid during creating your manuscript.

Book Review : we should all be feminists.

First read of September, 2020.

We should all be feminists uses simple words for describing simple day to day moments where women are treated differently on basis of their gender.

It is a Essay on a Tedx speech by the author on the subject Feminism. This book is 64 pages of brilliance that can be a perfect gift for men and women in our lives who are still ignorant, uneducated, or simply blind towards the imbalance in the world we live in.

FAVE FIVE BOOK TO MOVIE/TV SERIES ADAPTATIONS.

As a child I never read books, I was more inclined towards movies and television shows. Every evening was spent in front of tv watching loads of shows and movies. It has not been more than five years that I stumbled into the magical world of books, and as they say it’s never too late to start reading a book. The more books I started reading the more I realized I have been watching book adaptations all my life. Allow me to share my five favorite adaptations with you all.

Every Fairy tale/Once upon a time

Fairy tales have been used and abused in any format available, but somehow this show has made more sense to me than any fairy tale I ever read. This Disney production has made fairy tale characters more human by putting them into modern world but keeping the crux intact. This show signifies hope and encourages people to take second chances. If you love fairy tales then you cannot miss this show.

Hinger Kochuri / Amar Prem

Its humbling to see how a short story was adapted into a feature film. while hinger kochuri written by Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay  showcased a beautiful relationship between a prostitute and a child, Amar Prem added more layers to it.

And then there were none

And then there were none by Agatha Christie is a classic, period. This classic was adapted into a feature film in 1945 before and in 2015 a mini series brought this book back to the television sets. I didn’t like the movie but this 3 episodic series surpassed my expectations.

The fault in our stars

I watched the movie first,then read the book and ended up crying both the times. Life is beautiful , we make it complex. The movie was bam on expressing the sentiments between Hazel Grace Lancaster and  Augustus Waters.

Sherlock Holmes

This magnificent work of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle has been adapted into many movies till date, but this particular adaptation into a television series which brings our favorite detective to the modern world is more interesting. It’s no more a black and white period drama.

 

Book Review : Warjuna Book 1: Mrithasu Rising By Author Krishnaraj

Arjuna – prince of Wagharr finds himself injured far away from his homeland in a vaidya’s abode ,even though he is pretty sure he should have been in himavan with his people waiting for further orders from his king instead. Things make no sense to Arjuna as his memory plays with his emotions. Having discharged from the vaidya, Arjuna decides to head back home when the vaidya requests a tiny delay in his journey and asks Arjuna to visit Ashmaka and deliver a message to the king. This little detour creates major setbacks to Arjuna’s plans to return home. Arjuna finds himself fighting against Hayacree to save Ashmaka. while Arjuna is fighting battles , Krishna and others are gearing up  for the impending war, the Hayacree are invading Bharata and they need to be stopped.

The first 50 pages of any book gives you a fair idea of whether you will enjoy it or not. For me Warjuna was definitely a good read. I took my sweet time to read this book in two stretched out sittings rather than several intervals of reading. Warjuna perfectly sets the stage for the Mrithasu rising series. What i liked about this book is that every chapter is important, you remove one chapter and there will be something missing like a jigsaw puzzle . I’ll definitely wait for the second book from the series to release soon.

Review:

I am going to be frank, after reading the synopsis of this book I had developed a level of expectation which doubled after I read the first chapter  based on Nita Ambani. Unfortunately, as I progressed chapter after chapter I realized this book lacks something that is the most important factor in inspiring people – struggle. I don’t know how the author filtered her list from hundreds to mere 24 personalities and on what basis, but majority of these personalities didn’t had to go through the initial struggle of haves and have not’s as they belonged to rich families. More than struggle, these personalities showcased strength which again is a huge motivating factor. Few personalities were given so little importance which made their story look rushed because of which the reader feels a sense of incompleteness.

Instead of writing about 24 people if the author had focused on four people at a time and gave us a detailed account of their struggle and successes then maybe this book would have been the perfect book to seek inspiration from. Nevertheless, if you keep this point aside and read this book as a dedication to Indian women achievers then you wont be disappointed. Idea behind the book is no doubt brilliant , I wish the execution part was brilliant too.

VLOG REVIEW- 6 DEGREES

 

ON THE JACKET:

As part of their #CelebrateBlogging initiative, BlogAdda.com, ran the first edition of Game of Blogs in September 2014. Five characters and their descriptions were provided. The objective was to write a fictional story revolving around these characters. Bloggers came together as teams and after three rounds filled with its own set of twists and turns, three stories made it to the end.

The three stories in this book are a fascinating example of how one set of characters can have interesting lives with completely different dimensions. Six Degrees is a result of how collaboration can truly breed creativity in the modern day world of connected living.
